It would be best to understand various SCM domains, such as demand planning, inventory management, procurement, logistics, warehouse management, and transportation management.

Technical Skills: You should possess strong technical skills related to SCM systems and technologies. This includes knowledge of SCM software solutions such as Oracle SCM Cloud, SAP SCM, or other leading SCM platforms. Familiarity with integration technologies, data modeling, and enterprise architecture frameworks is also beneficial.

Solution Architecture: Experience designing and architecting SCM solutions is crucial. You should be able to analyze business requirements, propose suitable SCM system architectures, and develop scalable and integrated solutions. This includes defining data flows, system interfaces, integration points, and customization requirements.

Business Analysis: Strong business analysis skills are essential for gathering and documenting supply chain requirements, understanding business processes, and translating them into system solutions. You should be able to work closely with stakeholders to identify pain points and recommend process improvements.

Integration and Data Management: Knowledge of integration methods and tools for connecting SCM systems with other enterprise systems, such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems or third-party logistics providers, is valuable. Additionally, understanding data management principles, data governance, and master data management (MDM) is beneficial.

Project Experience: Hands-on experience implementing and delivering SCM solutions is highly desirable. This includes involvement in the entire project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to configuration, testing, training, and deployment. Experience with Agile or iterative project methodologies is a plus.

Communication and Stakeholder Management: Effective communication and collaboration skills are crucial as you will interact with stakeholders at different levels of the organization. You should be able to present complex technical concepts clearly and understandably and manage relationships with clients, business users, and technical teams.

Leadership and Teamwork: As a Solution Architect, you may be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of SCM professionals. Leadership skills and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
